FOOTBALL: CHELSEA AND MAN U TARGETS JUVENTUS POGBA.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their
pursuit of Paul Pogba after Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri admitted
that a £75 million offer would be hard to reject.
The ex-United youth star attracted even more attention against Chievo
on Sunday evening, putting in a match-winning performance that saw him
score one and create another, and Allegri believes that he is only going
to improve.
‘Of course, Pogba is only 21 and he’s got the quality to get even better,’ he said.
‘He is destined to become the best player in the world.’
Allegri, though, is keenly aware that Pogba has a number of big-name
suitors, and conceded that the likes of United and Chelsea could steal
the Frenchman away from Turin with a substantial offer.
‘To win games, you need to have strong players, otherwise there
wouldn’t be players worth 100 million euros (£75 million) and others
worth five’, he said.
‘Everything has a value in life, unfortunately, and the outstanding
players are hard to replace, but things always move on in football.
‘For now, let’s just enjoy having him.’
The increasing impact of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules means that
only a handful of teams could afford Pogba’s services, but the Premier
League duo are set to continue monitoring the situation ahead of a
potential bidding war in the summer.
